Digital skills training

Last year we successfully delivered 13 courses across the Wyre Forest district and helped 73 of our customers to improve their digital skills.

We're delighted to announce that due to the continued popularity of the courses, we will once again be delivering further courses throughout this year in partnership with Heart of Worcestershire (HOW) College.

The training sessions, which are two hours a week for five weeks, will be held at community venues across the district to help people to access training and support in familiar surroundings.

Our Beginners Courses have proved to be such a success that some of the students have gone on to develop their skills and knowledge even further by attending a free accredited course offered by our partners from Vestia, this has now allowed them to take their training to the next level and gain a recognised qualification. The beginners courses are FREE to customers and residents throughout the Wyre Forest, however priority will be given to The Community Housing Group customers and the courses will be offered on a first come, first served basis!

Want to use digital services but haven’t got access to the internet?

You can use the touch screen digital kiosk at Community House, Stourport Road, free of charge when our offices are open (usually between 9.00am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday), which is easily accessible for wheelchair users.

There are quick links already in place to useful websites including:

  • Access to MYaccount where you can access your tenancy details, check your rent account, report a repair or fill in an online enquiry form
  • Homechoice Plus to bid on a property
  • Job Centre Plus
  • Other Government agency digital services

We are really pleased to have recruited several new Digital Volunteers from customers and residents who have previously attended one of our courses and have then gone on to become a volunteer.

Being able to share their new found skills and knowledge with other people on a one-to-one basis or just support others within the training sessions has proved to have a very gratifying and positive effect on our volunteers. Feedback to date has shown that volunteering has left them with a new found confidence and a real sense of job satisfaction.

We are always pleased to welcome more volunteers with skills at all levels, not just experts!
