Digital skills training

Last year we successfully delivered 13 courses across the Wyre Forest district and helped 73 of our customers to improve their digital skills.

We're delighted to announce that due to the continued popularity of the courses, we will once again be delivering further courses throughout this year in partnership with Heart of Worcestershire (HOW) College.

The training sessions, which are two hours a week for five weeks, will be held at community venues across the district to help people to access training and support in familiar surroundings.

Our Beginners Courses have proved to be such a success that some of the students have gone on to develop their skills and knowledge even further by attending a free accredited course offered by our partners from Vestia, this has now allowed them to take their training to the next level and gain a recognised qualification. For more information on attending one of our more advanced courses available through Vestia please contact: Oliver Rimell – Community Learning Lead: 01562 733131 Email:

The beginners courses are FREE to customers and residents throughout the Wyre Forest, however priority will be given to The Community Housing Group customers and the courses will be offered on a first come, first served basis!

"Excellent hands on course it allowed me to use a computer with guidance and confidence would now like to continue learning as I have enjoyed it so much - Thank you".

"Enjoyed the course and want to continue learning. I was very impressed with the tutor and his style of training, having a 1-2-1 volunteer available to help was also extremely helpful".

"I have really enjoyed the course and my confidence has grown enough that I am now considering putting everything I have learnt into practice and purchasing my own computer. I would certainly be interested in continuing with another more advanced course soon so that I don’t forget what I have learnt".

"Although I had some knowledge of computers and using them, I didn’t feel safe when going on the internet, however I was shown how to access information and stay safe. I have learnt lots of new things and would really like to do another course".

  • Homechoice Plus to bid on a property
  • Job Centre Plus
  • Other Government agency digital services

'Do you have some free time?'
'Why not become one of our Digital Volunteers'

We are really pleased to have recruited several new Digital Volunteers from customers and residents who have previously attended one of our courses and have then gone on to become a volunteer.

Being able to share their new found skills and knowledge with other people on a one-to-one basis or just support others within the training sessions has proved to have a very gratifying and positive effect on our volunteers. Feedback to date has shown that volunteering has left them with a new found confidence and a real sense of job satisfaction.

We are always pleased to welcome more volunteers with skills at all levels, not just experts!
