What to do if you are Homeless or facing eviction

Homelessness can affect anyone, at any time. People can lose their home for many reasons. Families and single people, young or elderly, men or women can find themselves homeless through no fault of their own.

Falling out with family, suffering from or being threatened with violence, losing your home due to an emergency such as fire or flood, or eviction from a landlord are just a few causes of homelessness. You do not have to have a roof over your head to be defined as homeless.

Act as soon as possible
If you find yourself homeless or threatened with homelessness the first thing you should do is get advice. You can make an appointment to see a member of the Housing Needs Team (Homelessness Officer) or get independent advice from an organisation such as the Citizens Advice Bureau.

We may be able to help you to keep your present accommodation, or give you advice and assistance to help you find a place to live without having to go through the homeless process.

Applying as Homeless
If you are homeless or likely to become homeless within 28 days, we may be able to help you depending upon your personal circumstances. At the very least you will be offered advice and assistance to help you find somewhere to live.

Please remember that we have to make full enquiries into your circumstances as the rules regarding homelessness are very strict and complicated. Help us to help you by providing as much information as possible at the time of your interview.

If you need to contact us in an emergency out of normal office hours, please telephone 01562 850053 for advice.

Young and Homeless
The aim of Wyre Forest Nightstop is simple; to provide safe emergency accommodation for young people aged 16-25, on a one night at a time basis in the homes of trained, approved volunteer hosts.

The hosts will provide a bed for the night, an evening meal, washing facilities, breakfast, and most importantly, a caring environment and a listening ear.
