When you need a little help to cope with everyday living

Adaptions to your home
An adaption is a change to your home, which allows you to live more independently or a change that will allow you or your carer greater safety and mobility in and around your home.

An adaption can be a simple as fitting a hand rail in your bathroom to help you get in and out of a bath or shower or the designing and fitting of a ramp which makes it easier for you to get to your front door.

How are adaptions paid for?
If an Occupational Therapist considers that an adaption would help your day to day living, they will make a recommendation for works to be carried out and the level of urgency/priority.

If you are a tenant of Wyre Forest Community Housing and the value of the works fall under the scheme criteria, we may be able to carry out the works for you at no extra cost.

However, if the works are extensive and will be outside the scheme, you will need to apply for a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG), which is a means tested grant administered by Wyre Forest District Council.

To help you through this process, we have a skilled team who can provide you with advice, assistance with forms/applications or answer any enquires or concerns you may have.

To speak to the Equipment and Adaptations Officer, please telephone 01562 733069.
