Anti-social behaviour causes real misery for people who simply want to get on with their lives. W e aim to work with tenants and residents to quickly and effectively deal with troublemakers
Are you able to speak to your neighbour?
Minor problems can often be resolved by speaking to your neighbour, explaining the problem and seeing how you can work together to reach an amicable solution.
Do you feel unable to contact your neighbour regarding the situation?
We can help to set up a meeting and can even be there to help you talk through the problem with your neighbour. If you would like this assistance, please call the Anti-Social Behaviour Unit on Freephone 0800 169 4002.
What happens once I’ve made a complaint?
The officer in charge of your case will aim to speak to you (either face to face or over the telephone) within 24 hours of your contact in order to gain as many details as possible.
The officer will also ask for any evidence that supports your complaint (for example, your statement, photographic evidence).
The officer will inform you of what action they propose to take and will consult with you on this matter.
What happens next?
The officer will collect further information/evidence, including: interviews with witnesses, completed diary sheets, liaise with other agencies.
What action can be taken against a nuisance neighbour?
Varying levels of action can be taken against a neighbour who is causing a nuisance, starting with a letter or interview to legal action (for example, an injunction or Notice of Seeking Possession).
The level of action taken will depend on the nature of the complaint and the level of evidence available to support the complaint. For further details download our information leaflet (PDF opens in new window).
